7th TRADITION

In A.A., our Seventh Tradition states: “Every A.A. group ought to be fully self-supporting, declining outside contributions.”

While contributions cover each group’s rent and other expenses, the Seventh Tradition is essential at every level of A.A. service.  It is both a privilege and a responsibility for groups and members to ensure that not only their groups, but, also their intergroup/central office, local services, district, area, and the General Service Office remain self-supporting.  This keeps A.A. free of outside influences that might divert us from our primary purpose – to help the alcoholic who still suffers.

The amount of our contribution is secondary to the spiritual connection that unites all groups around the world.

The Mat-Su District 11 is 100% funded from local AA groups and members. Since we no longer have an Intergroup component,  and if you would like to support efforts to keep the doors open, and the new website going, please send a personal or group check to:

RECOMMENDED SPLITS

Every meeting and group in the Mat-Su has the absolute freedom to distribute their 7th Tradition monies as their group conscience decides, but District 11 recommends the following splits:

We absolutely recommend that meetings and group are fiscally responsible and make sure they budget for their respective monthly rent and other expenses first and then calculate monthly splits from their net contributions.

Then, we HIGHLY recommend making MONTHLY splits even if the amount is small.  We will recognize groups and meetings in the monthly meeting schedule which groups donate to District 11 from the previous month.
